Workplace Violence Prevention Regulation Effective April 2017

WPV Thumb LREmployers must begin implementing the three recordkeeping and reporting requirements in the new Cal/OSHA Workplace Violence Prevention Standard for Healthcare by April 1, 2017.  The Workplace Violence Prevention Plan itself, training employees on the Plan, and reviewing the Plan will be implemented by April 1, 2018. Union Mediation Team Wins 6 F/T Relief RNs!

After two months of meeting with Riverside Community Hospital management, and members preparing to strike over staffing, a team of Registered Nurse members of SEIU 121RN and Union staff successfully negotiated for six relief RNs to be hired and scheduled (3 day and 3 night shifts) seven days per week. Hollywood Pres RNs Reduce Healthcare Costs, Gain 3% Yearly Raise

IMG_4394 edit HROn Nov. 30, Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center management gave our SEIU 121RN and SEIU UHW-West Bargaining Team their last, best and final offer. Members voted Dec. 6-7 to accept management’s contract offer and avoid a 5-day strike. Read more

NLRB Orders Encino to Issue Back Pay to RNs Who Lost Income

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has ruled in favor of Registered Nurses represented by SEIU Local 121RN in response to a complaint we filed in 2011 over Encino Hospital Medical Center’s discontinuation of Anniversary Step Increases after our collective bargaining agreement expired. This year, he passed a law that will revamp the Paid Family Leave Act to make it more accessible for all Californians. Read more

College Hospital Membership Continues to Grow

SEIU 121RN welcomes the College Hospital Cerritos LVNs and LPTs to our local. While the RNs were preparing to begin bargaining, we were informed that management initiated a campaign against the LVN/LPT Bargaining Unit at College Hospital of Cerritos to have them become non-Union and thereby eliminate their job security and other guaranteed benefits.
