Dear SEIU Local 121RN Member,

I don’t consider myself a political guy. I’m an RN. I take care of patients. That’s how I see myself.

But as I’ve gotten more involved in our Union, I see the value of using our collective voice to get things done—for our patients and our profession—such as our Stop Repeat Offender Hospitals bill in Sacramento right now.

Please join me and take 3 important steps to improve patient safety and help us protect our licenses:

  1. First of all, please click here to call your State Senator and ask her or him to support our "Stop Repeat Offender Hospitals" bill, SB 1288, which will finally put some teeth into California's safe staffing regulations. A lot of RNs will be speaking with California legislators next week as part of California Nurse Alliance's Legislative Conference. Our calls leading up to these lobby visits will help make sure legislators know we mean business!
  2. Next, please *V*O*T*E* on June 5th—and make sure your co-workers, family and friends vote, too! I’ve learned that to get this kind of bill passed, we need to elect healthcare advocates. Check out the election details here in the gold box =>
  3. Finally, I'll talk to voters in a few weeks—will you join me? We have the opportunity to make sure voters know which candidates put patient and nurse safety before hospital profits. Make no mistake: when we get involved, we make a difference! Nurses’ endorsements remain one of the most trusted sources voters turn to when deciding how to vote. Click here to join me as I talk to voters in the days leading up to California’s Primary Election on June 5th.

It’s important that we ALL get involved to pass sound, nonpartisan legislation and elect leaders who will protect patients and nurses in today’s rapidly changing, corner-cutting world of healthcare and politics..

In Unity, Cielimar Zamora RN, Critical Care

P.S. Please reply to this email and let me know how you've participated in the 3 important steps listed above!
