Our safe staffing bill just cleared its first hurdle!

April 14, 2019

Dear SEIU Local 121RN Members,

On Tuesday, I and other SEIU Local 121RN members went up to Sacramento to testify before the Senate Health Committee on our "Stop Repeat Offender Hospitals" bill, SB 227.

I have some great news! The Committee overwhelmingly approved our bill, 6 to 2! Getting through this committee was the first step to making sure this bill becomes a law. Click »»» here here to see how the Committee Members voted.

AND...

I wasn't surprised at the opposition's comments, but they hit me hard all the same. They blamed Nurses for their dangerously low staffing last year, too. Our bill's next challenge is the Senate Appropriations Committee, where our employers will once again try to blame us.

Are you ready to fight their fairytale?
