California Assembly Health Committee passes our “Stop Repeat Offender Hospitals” bill, SB 227

On June 25, 2019, the Committee overwhelmingly approved our bill, 10 to 3! Getting through this committee brings us one step closer to making sure this bill becomes a law.

Here’s how the committee voted…

Assemblymember Jim Wood (Chair) Dem. Yes
Assemblymember Chad Mayes (Vice Chair) Rep. No
Assemblymember Cecilia M. Aguiar-Curry Dem. Yes
Assemblymember Frank Bigelow Rep. No
Assemblymember Rob Bonta (a Co-Author of our bill) Dem. Yes
Assemblymember Autumn R. Burke Dem. Yes
Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo (a Co-Author of our bill) Dem. Yes
Assemblymember Heath Flora Rep. No
Assemblymember Monique Limón Dem. Yes
Assemblymember Kevin McCarty Dem. Yes
Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian Dem. Yes
Assemblymember James C. Ramos Dem. Abstained
Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez (a Co-Author of our bill) Dem. Yes
Assemblymember Miguel Santiago (a Co-Author of our bill) Dem. Yes
Assemblymember Marie Waldron Rep. Abstained

Unfortunately, the Republican Caucus is officially against our bill. In 2017, though, they supported our Whistleblower Protection bill, AB 1102.
