In September 2017, Governor Brown signed our Whistleblower Protection bill—AB 1102 (Rodriguez)—which increased the fines to hospitals and our supervisors if they retaliate against us when we speak out about violations to Title 22 nurse-to-patient ratios or other laws and regulations that impact our work.
This new law makes it clear: we can report our employers and supervisors when they ignore the law.
