What are the Emergency Standards of Care?

– What are the New Documentation requirements?

–  Do I have to complete my CE credits during the crisis?

–  Inappropriate Assignments: What to do if asked to care for patients you are not qualified to care for.

 

It’s difficult to stay up to date with all the changes during the COVID-19 pandemic. This class will explain the new California laws regarding nursing and what you need to do. Nurse Attorney Laurie Elston will also discuss several recent lawsuits related to medical and nursing issues raised by the pandemic.

 

Objectives: After completing this course, participants will be able to:

*Discuss emergency standards of care that apply to RNs and other healthcare workers during the state of emergency as it relates to COVID-19.

*Discuss the documentation requirements for nurses during the state of emergency as it relates to COVID-19.

*Understand RN CE requirements during the declared state of emergency in California.

*Understand and discuss what an inappropriate assignment is and what actions to take if you are asked to care for patients you are not qualified to care for.
