Kindred Ontario Bargaining Update #2

February 18, 2023

Bargaining Update

The Nurses of Kindred Hospital Ontario are disgruntled due to the extensive cuts and makeshift solutions haphazardly implemented over the years, which have led to inadequate facilities that endanger both patients and Nurses.

We are offering common sense solutions designed to deliver the change Kindred Nurses need. Our proposals would protect Nurses, create an effective patient classification system (hello Title 22 đź‘€), and improve our Labor Management Committee so that Nurses have a real voice. We'd hoped that these good proposals would be taken seriously.

Instead, your bargaining team's proposals are left stagnant on the table—while Nurses work in horrid conditions—a dumpster waiting for a match.

Your bargaining team has filed CDPH and OSHA complaints about the conditions at Kindred Ontario. We have petitioned management to address our concerns about leadership at the Ontario facility. With no answers, we assume Kindred thinks this dysfunction—which includes a failure to bargain in good faith—is perfectly fine.

Our only recourse is to fight back! With no actual heat in Unit 2, let's turn up our Nurse powered heat! Let's wear our purple. Join us at our tabling event Thursday, February 23 to discuss issues, plan our next steps, and get your stickers. Is everything really fine at Kindred?
