Greater El Monte Community Hospital 2023 Bargaining Update #1

March 16, 2023

The latest on union contract negotiations at Greater El Monte Community Hospital

In our first bargaining sessions, we were able to reach agreement with management on some important standard contract language, which will make room to dive into the issues that matter most to Nurses.

Top issues

We have presented and begun discussing a proposal for safe floating guidelines, one of the top issues from your bargaining surveys,  and we presented a proposal that would improve the hospital’s preparedness in certain public health emergencies such as pandemics.

What’s next

In upcoming sessions we will present proposals for improvements to Nurses’ compensation that will help Greater El Monte recruit and retain Nurses.

We’re off to a strong start, but the road ahead might be rough. Management can quickly change their tune when we start discussing things that impact their bottom line. And that’s where you come in. Stay tuned, and be ready!

“We are at the bargaining table! We are happy that administration is working with us to make sure that our licenses are safe and that we are safe. We’re working hard to ensure each department is run safely, to create safety around your license and improve patient outcomes. We need to stick together through this process and show our unity and we’ll win better working conditions and protections for our license. Join us in supporting this process!”
