Mark Your Calendar: Cafeteria Event July 7

Our Union wants to keep all members up-to-date on issues around the hospital and what we as Union members can do to resolve them. Members are encouraged to stop by our cafeteria event to meet our Union Reps, ask questions, and get a copy of our Union contract.

Check April Paystub for 1.25% Raise

Our Union contract calls for across-the-board raises of 1.25 percent to begin showing in our paychecks issued for the first full pay period in April. Since Kindred has a history of getting our raises wrong or not implementing them on the correct date, please check your paystub carefully.

Kindred Proposes Cuts to Vacation, Holidays

Kindred’s own policy states: “Kindred recognizes the importance of time away from work for all employees and provides PTO to eligible employees so they can attend to a variety of individual needs, including rest, recreation, illness and other personal reasons.” If this statement is the truth, then why does Kindred management want to gut our current Paid Time Off policy?

Negotiations Continue for Kindred Workers

On Friday, August 1, our SEIU 121RN and SEIU-UHW Bargaining Team members from Kindred Southbay and Tri-Cities met for the second time with Kindred Management to negotiate our new collective bargaining agreement. We were able to reach tentative agreements (TA) on some articles, and reached an agreement for interim access at the South Bay Facility for our 121RN and UHW Union Representatives.

100 RNs at Kindred South Bay Vote to Join 121RN

About 100 Registered Nurses at Kindred Hospital South Bay in Gardena voted 85 percent in favor of joining together in SEIU Local 121RN on April 25. The RNs (and all of the Kindred South Bay workers) have already elected their Bargaining Team and started bargaining their first contract.
