Don't Put Special Needs Kids at Risk!

September 22, 2011

September 22, 2011 - In the next two weeks, Governor Brown will have to make a critical decision about the care and safety of California schoolchildren. The bill, SB 161, puts schoolchildren with seizure disorders in grave danger by asking unlicensed school personnel to administer a rectal suppository to students experiencing epileptic seizures.

Please, urge Governor Brown to protect California students’ lives and veto this bill! Here's the message we're sending. Click here to add your name to our electronic petition.

"Our coalition of teachers, nurses and school employees writes in opposition to SB 161 (Huff). As those charged with protecting the health and safety of California school children on a daily basis, we are convinced that this bill undermines existing legal protections for students and their families and erodes the standard of care in the schools."

Please join me in signing this electronic petition sponsored by the SEIU Nurse Alliance of California today! Click here to sign.

Sincerely,

Gayle Batiste, RN, CNOR President of SEIU Local 121RN
