RNs at HCA hospitals hold protests for PPE

June 20, 2020

In April, Nurses at Riverside Community Hospital went to the streets for a “Silent Protest for PPE” to sound the alarm on the hospital’s stockpiling of PPE for “future needs.” We would later learn that more Nurses fell ill with COVID-19 at RCH than any other hospital where we represent members. Two there died of the disease in 2020. Rosa Luna was an Environmental Service Worker (EVS), cleaning the rooms of COVID-19 patients to keep us safe. Sally Lara was a Laboratory Assistant, taking the blood of COVID-19 patients and all admittees to make sure they received quality treatment. See footage here.

Then Nurses and Licensed Professionals at Los Robles (in May) and later RNs at West Hills (in June) hospitals also protested outside our workplaces to show support for our communities while sounding the alarm on the unsafe practices inside the hospitals. See West Hills footage here.
