A tragic year ended with an important contract victory. Eight months after the loss of our colleague, Charge Nurse Celia Marcos, our Bargaining Team negotiated a contract that included important pandemic safety provisions. The team reached a tentative agreement with the hospital just before our contract was due to expire on New Year’s Eve. We ratified our contract the following week. The new contract includes the formation of a Pandemic Safety Task Force—a body of Nurses and management that will work on comprehensive responses to the current crisis as well as future pandemics. Our contract also includes Health and Safety improvements, a new break relief program, safe floating language and more.
