California's COVID-19 State of Emergency officially ended on February 28, 2023. That means that there are no more excuses when it comes to enforcing the law on safe staffing, including our vital nurse-to-patient ratios, which make our hospitals safer for everyone.

SEIU 121RN members, elected officials and our allies marched from St. John's Hospital in Oxnard to the CA Dept of Public Health (CDPH) to demand full enforcement of SB227, a law which authorizes CDPH to issue fines to hospitals that violate nurse-to-patient ratios.

We delivered a powerful message to CDPH, and we put our hospitals on notice—Union Nurses won't stop until the law is enforced. When it comes to hospital safety, our Patients Can't Wait!
